About
I'm Christopher Smook, a systems & network engineer who likes the parts of the job most people never see: the routing table that just works, the alert that fires two minutes before a real problem, the runbook that lets someone else fix it at 2am without calling me.
My background spans datacenter and hosting networks as well as small-business IT. That means I've had to be the network engineer, the sysadmin, and the help desk all in the same week. That range is useful: I design for the way systems actually get operated, not just how they look in a diagram.
Outside of work hours I run a home lab that's a little too large for its own good, and I write small tools to automate the parts of network administration that don't need a human.
